The all-new 2009 Pontiac Vibe signals the return of the popular all-wheel drive and performance-oriented GT models. Like the previous Vibe models, the 2009 Vibe is a superb all-rounder, combining style, performance and versatility. It offers a modern re-mix of classic hit, infusing the functionality of a compact crossover with a bolder attitude of muscular styling, increased performance and tight handling.

2009 Pontiac Vibe is a compact wagon offered in base, AWD and GT trim levels. Base Vibe model, available only as front-wheel-drive is equipped with a 1.8-liter 132-horsepower four-cylinder engine and a torsion-beam rear suspension. The engine benefits from dual variable valve timing, optimizing both performance and efficiency, and is matched to a standard five-speed manual transmission or an optional four-speed automatic. The more powerful 2.4L engine is standard on the all-wheel drive AWD and GT models, and is optional on the base model. The upgraded 2.4-liter DOHC engine churns out 158 horsepower and 162 pound-feet of torque. The sporty GT and the AWD come along with the independent rear suspension. A four-speed automatic transmission is standard on the AWD. GT models can be equipped with a standard five-speed manual transmission or a new five-speed electronically controlled automatic transmission featuring Driver Shift Control (DSC), which delivers impressive combination of performance, fuel economy and smoothness.

With clean lines, minimal overhangs and wheels pushed to the corners, the 2009 Vibe poses a muscular stance. Each of the three Vibe models is distinguished from one another with unique styling cues and offer distinctive wheel options. The AWD features a standard roof rack perfect for outdoor activities. The GT has its own front fascia with larger fog lamps and lower-fascia air intake rocker moldings, roof spoiler and a bright exhaust tip.
