The 2008 Saab 9-3 Sport Sedan is a compact, entry-level luxury car that focuses on sporty performance and outstanding chassis dynamics. The five-passenger sedan offers a unique fun-to-drive experience with its more powerful engines. An All-Wheel-Drive configuration has been introduced. The 9-3 is covered under the Saab 100,000 mile warranty and other such warranties and incentives.
Power and Performance
The new Saab 9-3 Sport Sedan is available in two trim levels: 2.0T and Aero. Both come with front-wheel-drive and turbo-charged engine. The 2.0T is powered by a 210-horsepower 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine, while the Aero gets a 2.8-liter turbocharged V-6 engine that generates 255-horsepower. Both the engines are mated to a standard six-speed manual transmission that drives the front wheels. A six-speed automatic transmission is optional on the Aero, while a five-speed automatic transmission is optional on the 2.0T trim.
The fuel economy of the 9-3 2.0T is 19 mpg in the city and 26-29 mpg on the highway, while the Aero records 15-16 mpg in the city and 24-26 mpg on the highway.
Body and Styling
The 9-3 is visually striking with its all-new bodywork and new light assemblies, bumper moldings, doors, and handles. In fact, 70 percent of the external body panels and parts are all new for the 9-3. It retains its distinctive aircraft design in its bold and assertive lines that reflect strong driving performance. The 9-3 also adopts the maker's signature feature, a 'clamshell' hood that incorporates a U-shaped styling line.
The interior of the 9-3 is designed from the driver's perspective. Standard features on both the trims include eight-way power-adjustable seating, automatic dual-zone climate control, cooled glove box, cup holders in center console and rear seat, illuminated glove box, and XM Radio with three trial months of service.
Safety features
Standard safety equipment on the 2008 Saab 9-3 include four-wheel anti-lock disc brakes, electronic brake-force distribution, a traction control system, daytime-running lamps, lower anchors and top tethers for children (LATCH system), front passenger and driver airbags, side-curtain airbags, and a theft-deterrent system with engine immobilizer.
