The 2008 GMC Sierra 2500HD is a heavy-duty pickup with a smooth and powerful drive. Except for a satellite radio, which is standard across the line, the Sierra 2500HD gets no other changes.
Power and Performance
For 2008, the 2500HD is available in three body styles: regular cab, extended cab and crew cab. Regular cab comes in Work or SLE trims, while extended and crew cabs are also available in SLT form. A 353-horsepower, 6.0-liter V-8 coupled to a six-speed automatic transmission is standard on all 2500HD trucks. The 365-horsepower, 6.6-liter, V-8, Duramax turbo-diesel is optional. The Duramax is paired with an Allison six-speed automatic. The 2500HD can haul a maximum of 3,458 pounds and tow up to 13,000 pounds. Buyers can choose between a rear-wheel or four-wheel drive. All 4WD trims have AutoTrac, which features an automatic setting that shifts into 4WD when wheel slippage is detected. The 4WD Work trim has a floor-mounted selector for the transfer case.
Body and Styling
The refined 2500HD has user-friendly features including comfortable seats, simple controls, plenty of storage cubbies, three power points, and cup holders. The one-touch, three-blink lane-change feature and standard satellite radio make long drives fun. The SLT trim is equipped with a unique dash and door panel design with wood-grain and metallic accents that enhance its look of a premium luxury car.
Safety features
Anti-lock disc brakes are standard. A safety package that includes power-adjustable pedals and rear park assist is optional.
