The 2008 Buick Lucerne is a full-size luxury sedan that offers generous interior space, a smooth ride, easy controls and better safety equipment. The 2008 Lucerne offers an advanced V-8 engine in addition to a V-6. It is offered in four trim levels: CX, CXL, CXS and Super.
Power and Performance
The Lucerne CX and CXL are powered by a 3.8-liter V-6 engine generating 197 horsepower and 227 pound-feet of torque. The CXS has a 4.6-liter, V-8 engine that emits 275 horsepower and 290 pound-feet of torque; while the Super produces 292 horsepower and 288 pound-feet of torque. Both the V-6 and V-8 engines send power to the front wheels through a four-speed automatic transmission.
Body and Styling
The Lucerne's cabin features friendly and stylish controls. The Lucerne comes standard with seats for five, but a split front bench seat can be chosen on the CX and CXL for six-passenger capacity. The interior is roomy with soft leather upholstery. The trunk provides 17 cubic feet of cargo space and comes with a ski pass-through. The optional Harman Kardon stereo system offers flawless music.
Safety Features
Anti-lock disc brakes, traction control, front-seat side air bags and side-curtain air bags are standard safety features. Stability control is available on V-6 engines; the CXS and Super is equipped brake assist; while lane-departure and blind-spot warning systems are available on all except the CX trim. In National Highway Traffic Safety Administration crash tests, the Lucerne rated a perfect five for protection of driver and front passenger in frontal impacts. In Insurance Institute for Highway Safety tests, it received a 'Good' rating (highest of four) in frontal-offset testing.
